sync. labs ChatGPT plugin

The sync. labs ChatGPT plugin turns a conversation into a visual dubbing and lip sync workflow. Dub a video into another language, make an image speak, replace dialogue, or sync a video to new audio without leaving the chat.

Connect the sync. labs ChatGPT plugin

The official sync. labs ChatGPT plugin connects through OAuth. You need a sync. labs account, but you do not need to copy an API key into ChatGPT.

1

Open the plugin

Open sync. labs in ChatGPT and choose Connect.

2

Sign in to sync. labs

Complete the OAuth flow with your sync. labs account. The plugin connects to your currently active organization.

3

Start a new chat

Select sync. labs for the conversation, attach your media, and describe the result you want.

To use a different sync. labs organization, disconnect the plugin, switch your active organization at sync.so, and reconnect.

Create lip sync from an image or video

The sync. labs ChatGPT plugin accepts one visual input, either an image or a video, and one performance input, either audio or a written script.

Dub into another language

Attach a video and provide a translated script or target-language audio track.

Make an image speak

Attach an image and ask: “Make this image say ‘Welcome to the future of video.’”

Make a video say new text

Attach a video and ask: “Lip sync this video so the speaker says ‘Our launch starts today.’”

Lip sync a video to audio

Attach a video and an audio file, then ask: “Lip sync this video to the attached audio.”

Use hosted media

Paste public video and audio URLs, then ask ChatGPT to create the lip sync result.

For script-based requests, ChatGPT selects a voice available to your sync. labs organization. You can ask it to show the available voices before generating if you want to choose one.

Write prompts that describe the result

A useful prompt names the visual input, the performance input, and any control you care about.

GoalExample prompt
Dub into another language“Dub the attached video into French using this translated script: [script].”
Dub with finished audio“Dub the attached video into Korean using the attached audio.”
Animate a still image“Make the attached image say ‘Hello from sync. labs.’”
Replace dialogue with a script“Make the person in this video say ‘The meeting starts at nine.’”
Use an audio performance“Lip sync the attached video to the attached audio.”
Choose a voice“Show me the available voices, then use the one I select to make this image say the script below.”

If a request is ambiguous, tell ChatGPT which attachment is the visual input and whether the other input is audio or a script.

Upload media the right way

Attach local video files directly to the ChatGPT conversation before asking sync. labs to generate. Images and audio can also be selected through the plugin’s upload interface when ChatGPT presents it.

Public URLs and existing sync. labs assets are useful for repeat workflows because the plugin can reference them without uploading the same media again.

For the most reliable result, use a clear face, audible speech, and a visual clip that covers the section you want to lip sync.

Check generation progress and download the result

ChatGPT starts a sync. labs generation and checks its status. When the generation completes, it returns the output URL in the conversation.

If the result is still processing, ask: “Check the status of the sync. labs generation from this chat.” If you start a new conversation, include the generation ID in the prompt.

Understand the current limits

The ChatGPT plugin controls the sync. labs API, so your organization’s plan, credits, model access, and generation limits still apply.

  • The plugin needs exactly one image or video and one audio file or script for a basic lip sync request.
  • A script-based request needs a voice available to your organization.
  • Automatic transcription, speaker selection, segments, and replacement of a specific spoken line are not currently exposed in the ChatGPT plugin. For dubbing, provide a transcript, translated script, or target-language audio track.
  • A local video should be attached directly to the ChatGPT conversation. The plugin file picker is intended for images and audio.
  • Generation time depends on the input and model. A result may take longer than one ChatGPT tool call, so you may need to ask for the status again.

Troubleshoot the ChatGPT plugin

Open the sync. labs plugin listing, connect it, then start a new conversation and select sync. labs for that chat.

Reconnect the plugin and complete OAuth. If you recently switched organizations, confirm the correct organization is active at sync.so before reconnecting.

Attach the video directly to the ChatGPT conversation. Do not ask the plugin to open its image and audio picker for a video file.

Ask ChatGPT to check the latest generation again. If you have the generation ID, include it in the prompt.

Disconnect sync. labs in ChatGPT, change your active organization at sync.so, then reconnect the plugin.

Build custom AI workflows with the MCP server

The official ChatGPT plugin is the fastest way to use sync. labs inside ChatGPT. Developers who want to connect another AI client, use a local desktop configuration, or build custom agent workflows can use the sync. labs MCP server.
